How to make chocolate

Hi guys,

Today I'll be sharing my writing work with you. This week we did explanation writing, we had 3 different explanation writings. I did how to make chocolate. It was a very interesting subject to learn about, i learned that Chocolate factories make 1,600-2000 chocolate bars a day. First we had to plan in our book and then we had to write in a google doc. Here it is!

WALT: We are leaning to write an explanation.

How to make Chocolate

Chocolate is something everyone loves. It's in milk shakes, candy bars, cookies and cereals. What makes chocolate into dark chocolate and milk chocolate? It's cocoa butter. Different cocoa butter changes milk into dark. Did you know a factory makes 1,600 to 2000 chocolate bars a day?

First the process begins with collecting the cocoa beans, then they sort out the beans. After this They dry the beans. This takes approximately a week. They ship the beans to a factory and the factory puts the beans into a machine which cracks the beans into small bits.

Now they take out the beans and mix it overnight in a machine at full speed. In the morning they put sugar in the now thick chocolate. It is then taken out and mixed again to make the particles small and to make it thicker. You want it to have small particles but you also need it to be round so it will come off the palate. Then this is repeated 3 more times.

The next thing they do is tempering . Tempering makes the chocolate smooth and glossy. Tempering is an important step because this keeps it from easily melting on your fingers. Tempering chocolate involves slowly raising and lowering the temperature of melted chocolate while constantly stirring. Then it is put into molds and vibrated to get rid of bubbles. Also chocolate should NEVER be kept in the fridge, even when the weather is warm. Instead, chocolate should be stored in a cool, dark cupboard, preferably at between 10 and 20 degrees C – with 15 degrees C being the perfect temperature.

Then they put the chocolate in a white box. This box transfers the chocolate into a wrapping machine. Now the chocolate is wrapped and ready to be given to stores.

The Uru Mānuka Student Toolkits are being held on the 17th September Online from 9:30-12:30.

This full day of action packed event will focus on creative and collaborative use of digital technologies to promote innovation and learning.

The programme includes problem solving challenges, breakouts, and demonstrations all led by students for students.

On my first tool kit I learnt how to use scratch and second tool kit I learnt how to use Easel.ly easy! Here is what I made Easel.ly!

Also I forgot to mention that I was presenting on the tool kits. I was presenting with Jaydah, and we also had 2 sessions. On my first session I felt quite nervous but on my 2 session I felt relaxed and wasn't to nervous. I hope you guys will have a chance to do this because I will say that it was quite fun! Writing work!!

 Hi guys,

Today I will be sharing my writing work, although I cant say I did it myself. 2 other amazing people helped me do this writing peice and they are Daisy and Abigail. Anyway here is the procedure we went though,

1. We chose an image from 6 images. The image we chose was an image that was a cave. Why I chose this was because  I could see my monster in it.

2. I did a plan using my 5 senses interdependently.

3. Then I chose Daisy and Abigail to work on another plan but the same picture because we chose the same picture.

4. We wrote out 5 paragraphs for each of our senses.

5. We introduced our monsters in our story.

6. Then we all made a doc for ourselves and make up problems and solutions.

7. After that we linked it in a slide and now its kind of like a pick-a-path story.

After all of that we had finished! Here is our writing work!

I hope you guys enjoyed or story! Please comment if you like it or not and maybe give me some feedback! See you in my next blog post! BYEEEEE

Slirack

WALT - We are learning to introduce the characters into a narrative

Hi guys,
This term we had to make a monster of our own but with 4 animals. My 4 animals were a giraffe, lion, snake and a duck. We got this idea from a book called 'Where the wild things are'. My monsters name is Slirack.
Snake
Lion
Giraffe
Duck
In this blog post i am showing you my plan on how Slirack looks, the description of him and my drawing. Here they are:

Name: Slirack

Slirack is a kind and caring animal. It is protective over its habitat. Slirack lives on a small island called Rabbit Island in japan.

The Slirack is a mix of a duck, lion, giraffe and snake. Only some people have seen Slirack before. Slirack is sometimes scary over its food. You might wonder how or why. It is because Slirack has a duck head and it's predators think it's weak, but Slirack roars at it's predators or at any animal that tries to eat it's food, and they all get scared and run away, but the food just dies from shock.

Slirack eats rabbits, grass, seeds and eggs. Slirack lives underground where no one can find it. Slirack was created by a crazy scientist. The scientist thought if he created Slirack then he could dominate the world. He wanted to do this because he had a tough childhood and thought he could take away everyone's happiness just like how the world did to him. The kind animal Slirack was he didn't do that, instead he escaped, ate the scientist and went to live on Rabbit Island.

If you get to know Slirack then he won't seem like a monster but when people just say that he's a monster, he acts like one.

That is my drawing of Slirack!

I hope you guys enjoyed my post and leave comments.
I see you next time,
Bye!

Nobody Laughed

Hey guys,
Today we had to illustrate a picture from the book you are reading. My book is called 'Nobody Laughed' You could do a animation, google drawing or a hand-drawn drawing. I chose this picture to draw on a google drawing because i really liked this part.

WALT monitor our reading to ensure we have a full and deep understanding of what we read.

This scene is the last page of the book and its also my favorite because Aiden is going back to school and then he sees his whole class has the same bag as him and his friend Kane. After the class goes on a run they come back only to see all their bags mixed up. The only way for the kids to get back their bag was to check in everyone bag. Skip time! There was only 2 bags left and Aiden was worried that everyone would laugh when they saw that was in his bag. The teacher opened the second to last one only to see a orange tutu. It was his friend, Kane's! But nobody laughed. Then the teacher said "I guess this is yours" and chucked the bag to Aiden! So anyway here is my google drawing!

Okay I hope you guys have a nice day! See you in my next blog post!
Byeeeee!!!

The BEST tropical beach resort

Hi guys
Today we had to illustrate a picture from the book you are reading. My book is called the best tropical beach resort. You could do a animation, google drawing or a hand-drawn drawing. I chose this picture to draw because i really liked this part and because i wanted to challenge myself. (I don't draw much)

This scene is the last page of the book and its also my favorite because the boy makes a tropical beach resort in his house because 1. he likes beaches and 2. he won 5 million dollars! But the when the mum comes home she tells him why he made the resort in the house when he could have just gone to one!
Anyways here is the picture i tried to draw:

And this is MY drawing:

Leave a comment telling me what i should improve on! And also if you like my drawing!
Thanks,
Kezia
